The McQueen and Pardee families lived in Miami County and Greenwood County, Kansas.

This collection consists of tapes and transcripts of oral history interviews conducted by students in the University of Kansas course "America in the 1960s" (History 510), which was taught by Rusty Monhollon. Subjects addressed by interviewee include everyday life, as well as the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and John F. Kennedy, the Chicago Democratic convention, racial issues, rural Kansas, the Vietnam war, and the draft.

American Indian Movement protest photograph collection

This collection consists of 32 large-scale black and white photographs of a protest by Native Americans in Washington, D.C. From what is shown in the photographs, the protest ends with police violently breaking it apart and arresting protesters.

American Laboratory Theatre Collection

The American Laboratory Theatre, sometimes referred to as the 'Lab', was founded in 1923 in New York City, New York as both a professional theatrical group and a school. The collection consists mostly of administrative correspondence, as well as production programs, photographs, newspaper clippings, and some student files, all related to the school's efforts. Also in the collection are some secondary research materials about the theatre and school.

"American progress" photograph

Overview

Includes a photograph of the "American progress" painting by John Gast in 1872. George Crofutt worked with Gast to create this painting to distribute as a print in his magazine, Crofutt's Western World. The painting is one of the most enduring artistic represtations of the phrase "Manifest Destiny," coined by John L. O'Sullivan in 1845.

Ames-Enloe photograph collection

The collection contains photographs of the interiors of millinery shops and dry goods stores, a newspaper advertisement for Mrs. M. P. Ames Millinery, and snapshots from the 1904 Saint Louis (Missouri) World's Fair. The photograph album contains snapshots of social life in El Reno, Oklahoma. The Ames and Enloe families were milliners in Kansas and Oklahoma from 1905-1920.

An account of the Church and remains of the Manor House of Stanton Harcourt in the County of Oxford

This historical account of the church and remains of the manor house of Stanton Harcourt in Oxfordshire (Nuneham Courtenay), covering the period 1199 to circa 1800, was written by George Simon Harcourt, 2nd Earl Harcourt (1736-1809) in 1808, although this year that was copied may have been 1818. It is dedicated to the antiquary, Richard Gough (1735-1809), and includes texts of epitaphs by William Congreve, Alexander Pope and John Gay, and of a letter from Gay.

An Analysis and Evaluation of Selected Public Speeches of John James Ingalls, by Ray Harold Sandefur

This Ph.D. thesis for the State University of Iowa by Ray Harold Sandefur is an "attempt to make a rhetorical analysis of Ingalls' speaking techniques in some fifteen senatorial speeches and two Kansas speeches." Sandefur's main concern was primarily with the materials and methods by means of which Ingalls on the platform was able to gain belief and move to action. Rhetorical, historical, and evaluative methodology was employed.

This edition seems to derive from the text of 1800, but the reason or occasion for this copy is unknown. Consists of detailed descriptions and numerous examples for understanding, composing, and interpreting various types and degrees of harmony as used by Shield and other famous composers of the time. However, no explicit citations of other composer's works are made in reference to the musical examples...
